If a worker insured with SOCSO dies from any cause, the family can claim up to RM3,000 for funeral costs. Free to claim, no agent needed.
- Check: the deceased was a worker insured with SOCSO. Who can claim: the widow/widower, the eldest surviving child, or a parent; if there are no heirs, whoever paid for the funeral.
- Fill in Form 26 and bring copies of the death certificate, the deceased's and your IC, proof of relationship (marriage/birth certificate), a bank book copy, and the original funeral receipts if you are claiming as the person who paid.
- Submit at the nearest PERKESO office with the originals. Claiming is free; don't pay an agent. Ask about Dependants' Benefit (a monthly pension for the spouse and children) too, if it applies.
