RM40 electricity bill rebate + TNB deposit

Rebat Bil Elektrik RM40 (eKasih miskin tegar)

Heads of household in the hardcore-poor (miskin tegar) category in eKasih get up to RM40 off their electricity bill each month in 2026. The TNB deposit waiver or refund only covers an account in the head of household's own name. Tenants whose account is in the landlord's name get the rebate only.

1. Check your name on PETRA's rebate check portal with your MyKad number. If you're not in eKasih yet, contact your state Federal Development Office or District Development Unit. eKasih data comes from their survey, not self-registration.
2. Domestic electricity account in your own name? Up to RM40 comes off each monthly bill until 31 December of the current year. If the bill is under RM40, the balance does not carry over.
3. Renting, or the account is in someone else's name? Update the account number at the utility branch (Kedai Tenaga) using the form from PETRA's rebate portal to put the rebate on that account. One account per head of household. Tenants get the rebate only, not the deposit waiver.
4. Hidden money: the TNB deposit. Only if the account is in the head of household's own name: ask Kedai Tenaga to refund the existing deposit, or ask for it to be waived when you open a new account. An account in the landlord's name doesn't qualify.
