IPR INSAN: sell food from a vending machine (rental paid by the government)
IPR INSAN (Kementerian Ekonomi): jual makanan guna mesin layan diri
A government income programme for B40, poor and hardcore-poor households with food-business experience. The government pays the vending machine rental, site rental, maintenance and installation for 24 months; you only pay to prepare and deliver the food plus e-wallet charges. Ready-to-eat food is sold at up to RM5 at places like hospitals, public universities, government buildings and LRT/MRT stations.
- Check you qualify: a citizen from a B40, poor or hardcore-poor household (applicants are checked against eKasih and STR), able and experienced in running a food business, with a typhoid jab and a food handler course certificate.
- Register and log in on the IPR portal, choose IPR-INSAN, and fill in your details and upload documents accurately. Your chances are better if you can propose your own site (for example a nearby hospital, health clinic or government office) whose owner has already agreed.
- You'll hear back within 14 days of a complete application; check the status with your MyKad number on the Status Check page. Only eligible applicants are contacted for an interview, training and placement, if a machine slot is free near your address.
- Do the sums before you start: the selling price is capped at RM5, and you pay for ingredients, preparation, delivery to the machine and e-wallet charges. Have land and a group (at least 5 people, 10 acres)? Also look at IPR-INTAN for crop or livestock projects. Questions: [email protected].
