Moving out for good? Close your TNB account and your deposit comes back (less any final bill) within a month. Still living there but your deposit is higher than your average bill? Ask TNB to refund the excess.
- Moving out for good? Apply to close the account: in myTNB choose 'I want to stop my electricity', or hand in the Close of Account form with a copy of your MyKad at the nearest Kedai Tenaga or by registered post. In myTNB, pick a disconnection date 3 to 14 working days from the application.
- Clear any outstanding bill first. TNB staff take a final meter reading and cut the supply, so make sure they can get into the premises.
- Refund = deposit minus any final charge. It's paid by bank transfer (first choice), cheque or a transfer to your other TNB account, within one month.
- Still living there? If your average 2-month bill is less than the deposit you paid, ask TNB to refund the excess (worked out on your 6-month average use). Account holder has passed away? A next-of-kin can close the account and claim the deposit with the death certificate and an LHDN-stamped Indemnity Bond.
