EPF i-Saraan 2026: Up to RM500 a Year, Eligibility and How to Register
The government adds 20% to your voluntary EPF savings, up to RM500 a year. Who qualifies, how much to save and how to register in the KWSP i-Akaun app.

Since 11 May 2024, every EPF contribution you receive is split across three accounts, and 10% goes into Akaun Fleksibel (Account 3). You can withdraw this money at any time, for any purpose, with no supporting documents.
This guide covers who qualifies, how to apply in the KWSP i-Akaun app, when you need thumbprint verification, how long payment takes, and how to move money back into Akaun Persaraan if you would rather keep it for retirement. Every rule is taken from EPF's official pages.
On 11 May 2024, EPF restructured the accounts of members below 55 (including non-Malaysian members) from two accounts into three:
New contributions are credited in a 75:15:10 ratio: 75% to Akaun Persaraan, 15% to Akaun Sejahtera and 10% to Akaun Fleksibel. EPF says the same dividend rate applies to all three accounts.
| If your total monthly contribution (you + employer) is | Goes to Akaun Fleksibel (10%) |
|---|---|
| RM500 | RM50 |
| RM1,000 | RM100 |
| RM2,000 | RM200 |
| RM3,000 | RM300 |
The table only illustrates the 10% split. Your EPF statement in the i-Akaun app shows your real amounts.
The conditions on EPF's page and in its Terms & Conditions:
You do not need supporting documents or a reason. EPF does advise members to withdraw only for emergencies and immediate needs so their retirement savings stay adequate.
The app is the quickest way. The general steps (menu names in the app may differ slightly between versions; follow what your KWSP app shows):
You can also apply on the i-Akaun (Member) web portal, or walk into any EPF office with no form needed. Members living abroad who cannot use i-Akaun can download the form from EPF's Akaun Fleksibel Withdrawal page.
Your identity is usually verified automatically through e-KYC. For larger amounts, or if online verification fails, you may need to visit an EPF office or a Self-Service Terminal (SST) for thumbprint verification. EPF's pages give different amount thresholds, so check the current requirement in the app or on EPF's site before you apply.
EPF's e-Withdrawal Terms & Conditions also list conditions for applying online, including an active i-Akaun login and a mobile number and active bank account registered with EPF. If these are not met, apply at a branch or SST with thumbprint verification.
EPF says payment is made within three (3) working days after the application is approved, straight into your bank account. Working days exclude weekends and public holidays, so a Friday-evening application usually takes longer.
If the money has not arrived, check the application status in the app, make sure your bank account is still active and in your own name, then contact EPF through the official channels on its site. Never give your i-Akaun password or TAC to anyone offering to 'speed up' a payment.
Since 19 April 2025, members below 55 can transfer all or part of their Akaun Fleksibel (and Akaun Sejahtera) savings to Akaun Persaraan or Akaun Sejahtera. EPF says the transfer does not affect dividends.
The restructuring did not remove the existing withdrawals. Before 55, EPF still allows, among others:
Before you use Akaun Fleksibel for costs like course fees or medical treatment, check whether a dedicated Akaun Sejahtera withdrawal fits better. The cards below link straight to EPF's steps and official sources.
