mySalam 2026: RM50 a day hospitalisation (up to RM700) and RM8,000 critical illness benefit
By DuitMap · Published · Updated · 7 min read
mySalam is Malaysia's free national B40 takaful scheme. It is run by Great Eastern Takaful Berhad and pays two cash benefits: a hospitalisation allowance and a critical illness benefit.
For eligibility year 2026, checks and claims are open on the official mySalam portal. This guide summarises the amounts, overnight rule, documents, claim steps and deadline — all taken from the mySalam site and official FAQs (checked 6 November 2026).
If you are also an STR recipient aged 40 or above, see the PeKa Sihat guide for free health screening — a separate scheme from mySalam.

The official FAQ describes Skim Perlindungan Nasional B40 (mySalam) as a free takaful protection scheme provided by the Government of Malaysia for eligible B40 households. It is Shariah-compliant and operated by Great Eastern Takaful Berhad.
The Government has agreed to continue the scheme through 2026. Eligibility is based on Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipient data from LHDN, not a separate mySalam application.
Two cash benefits1) Hospitalisation: RM50 a day, max 14 days or RM700 a year. 2) Critical illness: RM8,000 paid once in a lifetime if diagnosed with one of 50 listed conditions.

Critical illness benefit: RM8,000 once in a lifetime
The General FAQ states RM8,000 is paid when a Covered Person is diagnosed with a critical illness certified by a doctor at the panel hospital where treatment is received. The benefit is paid only once in a lifetime.
From 1 January 2025, the protected list rose from 45 to 50 conditions, adding Rheumatoid disease, Chronic Skin disease, Blood disease, Mental illness and Rare disease (mySalam announcement 16 April 2025).
Already claimed? If you have already received the RM8,000 critical illness payout (including in 2019–2024), you cannot submit another critical illness claim. Annual hospitalisation claims can still be made within that year's cap.
How to claim hospitalisation (step by step)
1. Go to www.mysalam.com.my and log in with your MyKad number and password (SMS or one you set).
2. Open Claims → Submit Claim, then choose Hospitalisation Claim.
3. Enter the details and upload (PDF or JPEG): IC copy (front and back) and discharge note.
4. Click Submit. Processing is estimated at 10 working days after complete documents arrive.
5. Keep a bank account in your own name updated on the portal — third-party accounts (including a spouse's) are rejected.
2025 claims stay open until 30 June 2026mySalam's announcement urges recipients to upload hospitalisation and critical illness claim documents for eligibility year 2025 by 30 June 2026, and to update bank details if a claim is approved but unpaid. After that date, updates or appeals will not be processed.

The Hospitalisation page lists, among others: suicide or self-inflicted injury; war/riot; violence or breaking the law; and alcohol/drug addiction, pregnancy, childbirth, abortion, contraception and infertility-related care. Check the full official list before assuming cover.
